Installation methods for Acoustic Panels

February 2, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

There are two standard methods of installing acoustic panels for your noise control solutions. Impaling clips and Z-clips. The impaling clips are the easiest as they requite less precision and labor but are permanent and the removal of the panel may due some small damage to the wall surface. Z-clips allow for removal/replacement of the panel but require precise measurements in installation and may take 2x as much time to install. In our opinion, acoustic panels rarely (if ever) require replacement and when they are, are usually done in concert with an entire revamp of paint and/or drywall hence the impaling clips are the best method.

Digital Image Acoustic Panels

January 1, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

Choosing a color for your acoustic panels can sometimes be the hardest thing. Many times a committee has to go through numerous fabric sample orders in order to come up with one that works. What isn’t always known is that you can wrap your sound absorbing panels in a digital image. While the cost is more, your noise control panels can show a corporate log or favorite landscape image. All you need to do is provide a high resolution/high dpi image and we’ll size it up to cover your acoustic panels complete with proofs for your approval.

Let us know if we can provide you with a digital print acoustic panels and we’ll work with you to make it happen!

And oh yeah, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Acoustic panels in sound absorption

November 6, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

One of the best ways to explain how an acoustic panel works in noise absorption is to think of a sponge and a puddle. If you have a puddle (noise) and you position a sponge (absorber) on the edge, the entire puddle will shrink, not just the area near the absorber. This is especially applicable when thinking about a square(ish) room with no designated speaker area. If you do have a specific noise source and receiver, there are other considerations that must be taken into account, but in most square room applications, equal, general distribution of the panels is sufficient.

Outdoor Noise Control Barriers

October 14, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

Many “good neighbor” policies incorporate enclosures of loud or continuously operating HVAC compressors and the like to mitigate high, medium and low frequency noises. Solution can be as simple as a chain link fence with exterior rated absorber/barrier materials. Other times, self-standing PVC or even steel barriers can be used to both absorb and block noise transmissions to nearby or far away receivers. Please contact us for more information as well as analysis of your present outdoor noise issues.

Acoustic Balance in Conference Rooms

September 10, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

One of the most frustrating problems with noise control in conference rooms is finding a balance between the technology of video conference and teleconference technologies and the fact that you may be in a big square room with limited usable wall space for sound control. We do on-site inspection to get the whole acoustic frame of mind and find out what can be done using various different products at varying price ranges. Whether it’s fabric wrapped acoustic panels, digitally printed acoustic panels, diffusers, ceiling tiles or a myriad other solution, please get in touch to find out what we can do for you!

Church mutli-purpose room noises

August 5, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

I have found throughout the years that many religious facilities set up muti-purpose rooms for activities but forget the important job of sound absorption. These large rooms are at one time a gathering hall and another a gymnasium for youth activities. Regardless the acoustics are often ignored creating an uncomfortable noise environment. A large percentage of these issues can be economically treated using properly chosen acoustic panels (and installation can be accomplished by simple techniques). Contact us today if you would like a free study and recommendations.

Ceiling Mounted Acoustic Baffles

July 8, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

In many hi-ceiling situations, your best bet to control ambient noise is ceiling mounted acoustic baffles. Gymnasium and auditorium noises can be controlled using vinyl or sailcloth faced panels or normal fabric wrapped panels can be used offering a wide variety of colors and durability options. Mounting can be accomplished via d-ring or grommets and acoustic performance is excellent. Let us know if we can provide you with more information.

Hi Traffic Noise Control

June 9, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

In a high traffic area that needs noise mitigation, one of the products that can be used is a Quilted Fiberglass Absorber (QFA). These panels can be custom fitted to need and are useful in industrial applications as well as sporting venues (tennis courts etc…). They come in a wide variety of colors, absorb noise in the spectrum of need and are easy to install. Contact us for more information.

Acoustic barrier materials

May 13, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Bill Thornburgh

In searching for “sound proofing” solutions, one can get overly optimistic about the ability of materials to block sound or keep all noise out. While a material itself may stop noises from penetrating, the application/installation of those materials is what can make the final difference. A good material is mass loaded vinyl which, on its own, will stop many sounds from going through it, but only when used the proper way. Coming in both one pound and two pound densities, as well as outdoor variants, mass loaded vinyl can be an integral part of your noise reduction solutions.
